Pien has attracted praise and attention for her music so far, receiving strong support from radio stations such as BBC Introducing and music publications like Happy Magazine Australia. She is also making a name for herself in the live music scene, performing at festivals such as Rec Fest and Summer in Nashville, and has supported artists including Zoe Jean Fowler and Switzerland’s Eurovision Song Contest 2026 representative, Veronica Fusaro. With over 80,000 streams across platforms and achieving her first sold-out London headline show at The Waitingroom following the successful release of her debut EP ‘According to Plan’ in 2025, she is certainly an artist to watch!
Honest Lyrics
What is most striking to me about Pien’s music is her raw, honest lyrics – it really feels like she is giving us access to her own genuine experiences and emotions. And this is true: she describes how “all my lyrics are very personal and intimate,” and she gets her inspiration “from everyday life really and a lot from past experiences and me reflecting on them.” For example, her track ‘Here’s To’ is a defiant cry of victory against the “haters,” as thanks to them, “I learnt to do what it takes to make me strong.” In ‘I Know,’ we see a more delicate, vulnerable side, where she worries, “But I’m afraid I’ve scared you away / While I miss you and need you the most.” Pien is really letting us in with these intimate lyrics.
Pien’s Journey
I was intrigued to hear about how Pien got to where she is today, and it is an admirable story. What inspired me the most is her grit and determination, especially throughout the challenges she has faced. For example, she moved to London from the Netherlands five years ago, and not only did she overcome the various difficulties that come with moving to a new country, but she in fact thrived. She describes how “I feel like I’m finally the person I was always meant to be since I moved to the UK and it was definitely worth all the challenges.” She also mentioned the obstacles that she has faced as a woman in the music industry, namely the constant “fighting against all the stereotypes and feeling underestimated.” Any woman trying to make their way in this unforgiving industry will understand how difficult it can be, but Pien demonstrates just how much you can achieve if you chase your dreams and keep pushing, regardless of what might stand in the way.
I have no doubt that Pien will achieve all that she sets out to, and I am excited for what lies ahead for her!
